The Purpose of Dogs

Mostly, to make people smile. To get us through the day. To provide endless love and affection. To inspire us to be better. Also:

Seeing Eye Dogs
Police Dogs
Hearing Dogs
Therapy Dogs (soon to be my dog, fingers crossed)
Search and Rescue Dogs
9/11 Heroes

Shall I go on? Dogs are here to enjoy life. End of story.

What does this have to do with the environment? I believe we are responsible to the environment, and to all living things. We should appreciate and be good to them. Doing so will bring us nothing but joy. (I really had to get that off my chest, in light of recent news, and keeping with my desire to be positive here.)

A couple of fun Friday quotes:

~ Happiness is a warm puppy. ~Charles M. Schulz
~ Dogs feel very strongly that they should always go with you in the car, in case the need should arise for them to bark violently at nothing right in your ear. ~Dave Barry
~ The average dog is a nicer person than the average person. ~Andy Rooney
~ Dogs' lives are too short. Their only fault, really. ~Agnes Sligh Turnbull

The video is of a pit bull with baby chicks. What joy does your dog bring you?

I'm working down at Szalay's Sweet Corn farm and each Szalay brings their dog down with them.
I love those dogs and so do the customers. People buy them beef jerky and suprisingly the dogs love to eat the sweet corn....

I have a 5 lb YorkiePoo - best thing that ever happened to me (that I can remember at 55)

I get a hoedown charge out of watching the dog challenge the tomcat that is three times its size. Luckily the cat has a sense of humor (I told Jackie-the cat to BE NICE TO THE PUPPY!)

I have two wonderful, huge, happy black labs. The purpose of them for me is they feed my heart, mind & soul. They run around with a smile on their face (literally) all the time. All they want is for me to be happy and they do everything right to make sure I am. Even when they do wrong it's not long before they somehow manage to make me happy again. They are so good for me, even when they drag my tired, lazy bag of bones every single morning to go to the park at 5:30 am! There is not a 'sleep in day at this house'. love to all the dogs, Terra's mom.
